The 150 Challenge!!
Hello, friends!!
This week was a great week! We saw soooooo many miracles! I just love being a missionary!!
The first miracle started pretty early. We were supposed to have MLC (Mission Leadership Council) on Wednesday, but they changed the day of MLC to Friday. We had to completely change our schedule. At first, I was actually kind of disappointed and annoyed because it was a hassle to change our schedule and we already had set appointments. However, because of the change of schedule it allowed us to visit Raniag on Wednesday. As we went there, we went to someone who usually was not available. I actually don't know why I put it in our schedule. But when we went there, they were available! The Sister told us that the night before she had prayed for God to send someone to give her hope, and then we showed up at her door!
It was a miracle to me and it shows that God truly does use all of us to answer prayers. If MLC had been on Wednesday, we never would have gone to this sister. But because of the change of schedule, we were able to give her comfort and find answers to her prayers.
Another miracle happened with the 150 Challenge!
Our Zone made a goal for each companionship to invite 150 people to church this week! (As inspired by the one and only Sister Mason!) At first, I didn't think that it was THAT many people, but as we started inviting, I realized it was a lot of people to invite to church in one week! But miracles came pouring in.
The first miracle was the amount of joy that it brought to our work. It was soooo fun to talk to literally everyone! Sometimes I hesitate a little to talk with everyone. I get a little nervous and something stops me. However, this week was different! I am a little competitive, so knowing that there was a challenge was all the motivation I needed to open my mouth and speak to everyone (and of course because I love sharing the gospel)! It was an absolute blast.
However, we ran into challenges. One of these challenges was that we would be going to MLC, which would take away almost two whole days of work. So, we invited our whole bus (going to MLC) to come to church. Whether it was in Alicia, Cauayan, or Santiago, we let them know they were welcome to join us at church!
However, as Saturday morning rolled around, we were still 56 people short of our goal. We had not invited 50+ people any of the days of the week, but we believe that God is a God of miracles. So we went out that morning with faith that God would direct us to the people that we could invite to church. But as Saturday night was coming to a close (we only had an hour and a half of work left) we were still 20 people short!
But God is truly a God of miracles. There were so many people outside. We got to invite them ALL to church! It was amazing. As we reached 150 people, my companion and I were absolutely thrilled. I felt so much joy inviting people to feel God’s love at church, I want to do it again next week!
And of course, the miracle was that a bunch of our friends came to church this week! One of them was someone we had specifically invited because of the challenge. I was so glad to help even one person experience the joy of coming to church!
Another miracle happened because of our awesome members! The Bishop’s wife invited one of her friends to church this week and she came. She told us we could come visit her and she had a great time at church. This was a miracle that made our week.
God is so good. I have seen him lift our work in so many ways. I know that as I have faith in Him and His promises, He will help me. This is truly His work.
One of my favorite verses in the Book of Mormon is in Mormon 9:19, it is all about how God is a God of miracles. But I also love verse 21 because it tells us how to receive the miracles:
“Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.”
I know this promise is sure. As we have faith in Jesus Christ, He will give us miracles. Anything that we need and ask for, doubting nothing, will be given to us. That is God’s promise. I am still working on the “doubting nothing” part. But I have seen that as I have increased my faith, God has increased the miracles.
I love this gospel with my whole heart. I love the Philippines. I love being a missionary. God is so good.
I hope you all have a great week!
The church is true, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
