Filling the Measure of our Creation
Hello friends!
We had a great week of finding, teaching, and learning about Jesus Christ! It was wonderful!
We also had MLC this week! It was great to see my friends and to learn how to be a better missionary. I always love evaluating how I can improve and become better.
But because we had MLC this week, we lost work time in our area. In addition to MLC, my stomach has started having a few issues, and Sister Cobing (the Mission President’s wife) insisted I go to the hospital (don't worry--I'm fine). This was definitely not my plan. It stressed me out because I kept worrying about the time we were losing to be able to work. Due to MLC and my doctor appointments…we were behind in our goals. On Thursday, I told my companion (jokingly) that we needed to find 8 people that day. But it was as if my words spoke a prayer to heaven. God knows me. And He knows I will work hard as a missionary, but not only that—He knows I want to reach my goals. With these desires and the prayers of my heart, the miracles poured in, and we were able to reach that goal of 8 people! We were still far from our weekly goal, but we had a renewed hope. The rest of the week we continued to find and teach, and by the end of the week, we were able to reach our goal of finding people to teach.
At the beginning of the week, I was a little overwhelmed with our goals. With MLC and my doctor visits, I knew that our goals of finding and teaching would be difficult. However, I was once again reminded that as we put our trust in God and set goals with faith, He magnifies our efforts and helps us to accomplish our goals. He is truly in the details. And he sanctifies our efforts for good.
Another miracle happened as we taught one of our friends, Rona:
We were able to teach Rona the Plan of Salvation this week. As we taught, she talked about how different it was. She told us that she was amazed that there were three kingdoms of glory and not just heaven and hell. The spirit was with us as her mind was opened to God’s love for His children. I know I have been a missionary for a long time now, but it never ceases to amaze me just how amazing it is to be able to share God’s plan of mercy and love. To share with Rona God’s plan to help ALL His children return to His presence was a blessing to my life and to Rona.
As I was pondering God’s wonderful plan, I read a BYU devotional given by Sister Patricia Holland called “Filling the Measure of your Creation”.
In it, she says:
“Every one of us has been designed with a divine role and mission in mind. I believe that if our desires and works are directed toward what our heavenly parents have intended us to be, we will come to feel our part in their plan. We will recognize the “full measure of our creation,” and nothing will give us more holy peace.”
I am truly grateful for my knowledge that God created us and gave us this wonderful plan. He wants us to return to Him. In order to return to Him, we need to fulfill the measure of our creation. We need to do our best while we are here on the earth. As we put forth effort, God will sanctify those efforts helping us reach the fulfillment of the measure of our creation. This is the way to be happy now (in this life) and receive peace we all long to feel.
Sometimes I feel a little lost. Sometimes I feel like I will never measure up to where I want to be. But as I read this talk, I was reminded that as I strive to seek the things of the Lord, I will feel what God wants me to feel. I will discover who God wants me to become.
God is so good. His plan is perfect. And through His perfect plan, we can become truly happy.
I love you all! I hope you all have a great week!
The church is true, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
