Welcome to Roxas
Hello friends!
This week was an absolute blast! Moving to a new area is a
little hard, but Sister Liper and I got right to work, and I already love it
here in Roxas. To make my transition even easier, we had MLC this week so I got
to see Sister Regorosa again! It was a fun reunion.
This week Sister Liper and I saw so many miracles. Whether
we were finding, or teaching, God was leading and guiding us. I just love being
a missionary!
This week we were able to invite two people to make
covenants with God and be baptized!
Riodell is the son of one of the recently baptized people
here. We have had the opportunity to teach him the gospel. When we asked him if
he wanted to be baptized, he asked if he could be baptized tomorrow! We told
him we had to help him prepare a little bit more… We are all looking forward to
September 21 for him to make covenants with God.
Our other friend, Sister Marjorie, also accepted a baptismal
date. We taught her the Plan of Salvation. We then explained that to enter the
Kingdom of God, she needed to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be
baptized. She told us that she had been taught by missionaries before, but that
when she had been asked previously, she was never ready. However, she told us that
through prayer, she now felt she was ready to be baptized and take the next
step to come closer to God.
The spirit was so strong as we invited both of them to be
baptized. I am so excited for them! Please pray for Riodell and Marjorie.
We have one more friend, Sister Michell, who is thinking
about baptism as well. Please pray for her so that she can feel God’s answer
for her.
While we are on the topic of baptism…
One of the reasons I was so sad to leave Ramon was that some
of our friends were getting ready to be baptized!
But this week… drum roll, please…. June and Lerma were
finally baptized! It has been a long process for them, but as I called them and
talked to them, they were so excited! And I am so excited for them! Sister
Magdalena was also able to be baptized in Ramon this week. She is amazing! She
is the mom of Maureen and Maricel (who were baptized a couple of weeks ago).
She is the absolute sweetest lady taking care of me with cheaper vegetables. She
was like a grandma to me here in the Philippines.
I am absolutely thrilled for June, Lerma, and Magdalena.
Making a covenant with God is not always easy, but it is so worth it!
This week, I read an amazing talk by President Russell M.
Nelson. In it, he shared about our divine identity. He said that we have three
most important identifiers:
“First and foremost, you are a child of God. Second, as a
member of the Church, you are a child of the covenant. And third, you are a
disciple of Jesus Christ.”
He said that when we know who we really are, then we can see
ourselves as God really sees us.
This is something that I struggle with sometimes. Sometimes
I catch myself using the world’s standards to see myself, but I know that is
not what God does.
God sees me as His daughter and who I can become. I know
that as we focus on becoming like our Savior and seeing ourselves as God sees
us, we will be happier. God loves us so much, more than we can ever imagine.
I love you all! God is so good. I cannot wait to see all of
the miracles here in Roxas!
The Church is True, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
