Treasure
Hello Friends!
This was a great week of missionary work!
I had the opportunity to participate in two exchanges this week. One of them was with Sister Tapar and the other one was with Sister Cantero. I loved both exchanges! I got to go on exchanges with Sister Tapar in my last area, so it was fun to see her again and learn from her! I loved seeing how much she has grown. Sister Cantero and I came into the field together, so it was special to be able to catch up and learn from her as well. She is a great teacher, and I learned a lot!
This week was, of course, full of miracles! There are a few young adults in our ward that are preparing for full-time missions. This week, they came and worked with us! First of all, it was so fun to be able to talk with them about mission life, but it was also a big miracle! We have a friend that we are teaching who is always busy. Every time we go to visit, he isn’t there, or he is too shy to participate in the lesson! However, his family are all members, and they really want us to be able to teach him as well. It has been a little discouraging and difficult though to try and teach him, but never actually having a lesson.
However, the day that we had the young adults working with us, he was there! We were able to teach him, and the young adults were able to bear their testimony of the power of the Book of Mormon. It was amazing and the spirit was so strong! I know that God has a plan for this Brother.
Another miracle from this week was that our friend, Rhesie, was able to come to church! She has tried to come for the last three weeks, but things just kept stopping her. This week, it started raining pretty hard, and it almost stopped her again, but she decided to come despite the rain! She even invited her neighbors to come as well! It was a miracle for sure. Please pray for Rhesie that she will keep feeling the spirit.
I just love being a missionary. Between all of the miracles I get to see every day and all the things I learn; I feel so blessed.
This week in my personal study, I got to read about Christ ministering to the people in Ancient Americas. I was touched by his sermon to the people. One of my favorite parts was in 3 Nephi 13:21:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
I love these verses. It is so easy to get distracted by the things of the world. Even if it is not a bad thing, like getting a job, getting an education, being healthy. All of these are good things, but if they become our focus, then we have missed the mark. They can become our treasure.
God wants us to do all of those things, but keep our focus on Him and His son, Jesus Christ. He wants us to focus on what matters most. Where our heart is, that is where our treasure will be. I personally want my heart to be in heaven.
I know that as we do our best to center our lives on Jesus Christ, our treasure will be beyond what we can imagine. We will find true joy.
The Gospel is so true. It is the gospel of Joy! I love you all so much and I hope you have a great week!
The Church is true, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
