I Don't Think We Are in Provo Anymore...
Hey Friends!
WOW! What a week! This week has passed in a complete blur.
The week started out normally. We had all our regular classes in Provo, but by Thursday, we were done with classes and had a lot of extra time on our hands, because we didn't leave for the Philippines until Saturday.
This was truly a blessing. We were able to go to the temple twice before we left, which was amazing! The spirit was so strong, which helped me feel more ready to leave for the Philippines. I also got to spend more time doing personal study, which I really enjoyed. (I got to finish the Book of Mormon! It was a blessing—I loved it!) It truly was an amazing experience.
Despite the absence of classes, Saturday came around very quickly. On Saturday morning, we went to breakfast and then grabbed all our bags and headed to the travel offices where we boarded the bus, then the train, then the plane! It was all a great adventure.
First, we flew to Georgia (4 hours in the wrong direction), then we flew to South Korea, then we finally flew to the Philippines! We were traveling for 36 hours!
The plane flights were long, but I got to spend a lot of time reading the scriptures and sleeping so it was still good. I am not necessarily looking forward to spending any more time on a plane in the near future. It was definitely an experience I will remember.
When we finally made it to the Philippines, we had no idea where to go because no one had told us what to expect, but we eventually found our driver and made it to the Philippines MTC! It is pretty sketchy. We prayed and prayed, and then walked around until we found people in white shirts.
So, what are my first impressions of the Philippines?? 1) It is absolutely gorgeous here! 2) Despite some concerns, the MTC food is amazing! 3) Jet lag is a real thing.
Being in the Philippines is a bit of an adjustment..., but I am so ready for it!
Now that I am in the Philippines, I am so excited to get to the actual field and meet the people I will be teaching. Everyone I have met has been so kind, and I cannot wait to get to know more people!!
For my spiritual thought today, I want to share a verse from the end of the Book of Mormon:
Moroni 10:4-5 states,
"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
After I finished reading the Book of Mormon this week, I took up this challenge and prayed about it. Although this isn’t my first time completing the Book of Mormon, or my first-time accepting Moroni’s challenge, I once again felt so much peace and comfort. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I love it with my whole heart. I promise that if you will read the Book of Mormon, and truly pray about it—God will answer your prayers.
I love you all so much! Thank you to everyone who has emailed me this week! Your emails are wonderful and I really appreciate them! I am so sorry, but I might not have time to respond to emails this week because I am sharing a phone with my 2 companions, but I am reading your emails and loving them!
I love you all!
The Church is true, God loves you!
Love,
Sister Miller
