A Shower of Heavenly Blessings
Hello friends!
I hope you had a great week!
My week was a bit hectic, but it was so good as well. I love helping people come closer to Christ!
Last Sunday, Sister Hammari’s companion finished her mission. But transfers are not until this week, so we had a whole week (and this week too) to work in both areas! It was actually so much fun! Before Sister Bacot got here, I worked with Sister Gonzales and Sister Hammari in their area. Now, I get to go revisit some of the friends that we taught before! It is actually my favorite. It is a little tricky to balance all of our time, but it is a good experience and I love getting to meet more of God's children.
Another exciting thing about this week was that we celebrated Christmas!! Sister Bacot and I are not sure how long we will be companions, but we know that we won't have Christmas together (I will be home)… Also, this past Christmas I missed doing some of the traditions from home. One day Sister Bacot and I were talking about our traditions, and I told her about my Christmas traditions. She became excited and wanted to experience some of what I did as a child, so we decided to celebrate Christmas! We did a countdown, made cookies, and exchanged homemade gifts. It was so fun! I love Christmas, and Christmas in June is just extra special, especially with Sister Bacot!
But of course, we did work in our areas as well!
My favorite thing that happened this week was with our interested friend Amy!
We met Amy a while ago, at first, she just seemed a little lonely. She had a stroke a few years ago and it is hard for her to walk or move around, so she mostly just sits all day. In the beginning, we would visit her and share a little bit, but it was more about serving her than it was about teaching her.
However, one time while we were teaching her, we invited her to come to church. If I am being 100% honest, I did not think she was going to come that week. I wasn’t even sure if she understood all that we were discussing. However, about halfway through sacrament meeting, Amy walked in and sat down. I was shocked!! Then as we continued to visit her, she expressed a greater desire to learn more and come closer to Christ. She was understanding!
This week, we got to extend baptism to her, and she accepted! She has come so far. She is a light, and I am so excited to continue to help her.
As we extended an invitation to be baptized, she expressed a desire for her whole family to be baptized too, we then had a wonderful lesson about sharing the gospel and being a good example to her family. One of her friends was in the lesson, and right then, Amy invited her friend to come to church with her that Sunday!
Amy has already introduced us to a lot of her friends. She feels the truth of the gospel and simply wants to share it! She is truly amazing! She has shown me that God really does prepare people for us, we just have to see their potential as daughters and sons of God. I just love her so much!
Other miracles from this week included:
Wonderful members feeding us! (We are so grateful.)
Running around like crazy to help people come closer to Christ (as always).
And… teaching Brother Marvin about fasting, and him committing to fasting this week!
I just love being a missionary!!
For my spiritual thought, I wanted to share a short thought from an inspirational video called “A Shower of Heavenly Blessings”.
In the video, it compares the blessings of God to rain. God is always pouring down blessings on us. Sometimes we choose not to accept the blessings based on our own decisions. It compares these actions to opening an umbrella. It is not God stopping the blessings, but our own choices.
I love the reminder that God loves us all so much. He wants us to have all the blessings that He has in store for us, but we have to choose to put down our umbrella and receive his blessings.
I want to invite you all to watch this short video, and think about the blessings that God has given you, and if you might have an "umbrella” that is stopping the blessings, then close it, and let God in!
A Shower of Heavenly Blessings:
I know that God loves us! I know that as we seek Him, we will see that He is always there. He never will leave us. I can testify of this with all my heart.
I hope you all have a great week! I miss you all!
The church is true, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
There are a few videos in these attachments of my area. My companions took a few videos of me walking (without me knowing), but I love how it shows how gorgeous the scenery is here, and I wanted to share it with you.
