Goodbye Solano; Hello Ramon
Hello friends!
This was a bit of a wild week, so buckle up and hold on!
First of all, Marvin is on baptism date!! He is someone who has been taught for 2 years by the missionaries, but he had a few challenges that were keeping him from baptism. However, this week, we were able to extend to him and he accepted! I was absolutely over the moon.
The work in Solano is absolutely amazing. It could be my favorite place in the world…
…so imagine my distress when on Wednesday morning, I got the news that I was going to be ripped away from my area, companion, branch, and friends. I would be transferring to Ramon…as an STL (Sister Training Leader)...What?! It was absolutely crazy. I felt inadequate, and a little lonely, but also so excited all at the same time.
The hardest part of transferring was leaving Sister Bacot. I spent a couple of minutes crying, then pulled myself together, packed as fast as possible, and then we went out and worked one last time in my favorite place with my favorite people (Sister Bacot and Sister Hammari).
As we worked, we got caught in a rainstorm. Sister Bacot made the joke that they were trying to get me sick so I would not have to transfer the next day…it ended up being prophetic…
I woke up the next day with a fever of 101.5…whoops…
Unfortunately, despite having a fever, I still had to transfer. So, I hopped on the bus to meet my new companion and start a new chapter on my mission.
Being here in Ramon has definitely been an adventure! My new companion is Sister Regorosa! We met at the very beginning of my mission, and I have always wanted to be companions with her and now here we are! We are whitewashing the area here, which means that we are both brand new to the area. It is definitely a challenge, but I am so grateful that I get to do it with Sister Regorosa.
Over the last few days, my companion and I have been trying to get to know our new area, find the people that were being taught, and meet new people. I have also been trying to adjust to being an STL! It has been a bit overwhelming and a little challenging, to say the least. But one quote from President Nelson has been running through my head all week. He said:
“Do the spiritual work to seek miracles. Prayerfully ask God to help you exercise that kind of faith. I promise that you can experience for yourself that Jesus Christ “giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength”
As part of my prayers this week, I have started asking God to give me miracles, to help me recognize the miracles, and to help me have the faith to have miracles in my life. It has been powerful.
I have seen God’s hand over and over again. I have seen him giving me strength, helping me know what to say, giving me confidence, leading us to new people, and so many things. The miracles are real and they are constant. God is so aware of me and my companion. He knows our area and the people here. He will help us, uplift us, and strengthen us.
There have been a lot of changes for me in the last few days, and I don’t really like change. But it has been a new way to grow and meet new people. I am excited for another adventure in Ramon!
I hope you all have a great week! Please send prayers for my new area here in Ramon! I love you all and I miss you!
The Church is true,
God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave,
Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
