Double Baptism!!
Hello Friends!
This week was great!
We had baptisms, went on exchanges, got locked out of the apartment, and just had a grand time spreading the gospel!
First, we had a grand adventure getting locked out of the apartment. We were rushing home because we were already behind schedule, but then we realized that we didn’t have the key to the gate! Plus, it was raining. (The other sisters were not going to be home for a while, and we needed to get inside.) So, I did the only thing possible: I climbed the gate to find the key; however, I still couldn’t find the key! So, I helped my companion climb the gate and we eventually found the key together. It was an adventure of teamwork and perseverance… and one I will remember.
This week was full of learning opportunities. I got to learn so much at Zone Conference about being a dedicated missionary and giving my all every single day. Then I got to learn again when I went on exchanges! I was companions with Sister Sagales who was my kabahay in my first area. It was so fun to catch up and learn from her.
On top of all that learning, we saw so many miracles!
One big miracle is that Brother Riodel was baptized! He was so excited! I loved seeing him filled with a testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was a special experience for me.
I also got to call Sister Leonor from my last area. She was also baptized on Saturday. She is also absolutely amazing. It was special to be able to catch up with her and congratulate her on her decision to come unto Christ.
I love that I was able to witness two of my friends come closer to Christ and make covenants with God to deepen their relationship with Him. Watching them make covenants with Heavenly Father is the reason I am here. It is hard to put these experiences into words. It fills my soul with gratitude that my mission has allowed me to experience the joy of others’ committing their lives to Christ. There truly is no greater gift.
Having these experiences was a stark contrast to some other experiences we had this week… Some of our interested friends decided they were not interested in our message. It was hard to see people who had felt the truth of our message and then deny it. I love them so much and it hurts my heart. But I know that God has a plan for them.
During my personal study this week, I read the war chapters in the Book of Mormon. I learned so much about God and His desires for us, as well as the tricks of the adversary.
One day, I read about how Amalickiah (one of the bad leaders of the Lamanite armies) slowly poisoned the captain of the Lamanites until he died. By doing so, he was then appointed captain in his place.
I was thinking about Satan and what he does. He sometimes “administers poison by degrees” and we don’t even notice.
He tells us lies that we will never be enough. He tries to convince us that we can skip one day of scripture study or just one Sunday. Sometimes he convinces us to just go through the motions instead of truly worshipping our Savior.
The trick is catching the lies that Satan tells us.
God, on the other hand, tells us to prepare. He tells us to come unto Him and he will make our weak things strong.
There are so many voices in the world competing for our attention. We have to listen to the voice of God and not the poison of Satan.
I know that when we follow the Savior and choose to find the voice of God in our life we will be safe from the tricks and traps of Satan. God’s plan is the only plan that will lead to lasting happiness.
I love you all! I hope you all have another great week!
The Church is true, God loves you!
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart!
Love,
Sister Miller
