Goodbye to my Best Friend

 Hello friends!

This week was a bit of a roller coaster for me. I am happy and sad at the same time. I know that God is ready for me to grow…

I got transferred to Roxas.

I tearfully said goodbye to Ramon and my beloved companion, Sister Regorosa.

I don’t think I have ever cried so much leaving an area. I felt like I was being pulled away from my best friend. But Sister Regorosa was more than just my best friend. In the short time that we were together, she became a sister to me too. I will forever remember her. Leaving this area feels like I am leaving my home.

In addition to loving my companion, I also love the people of Ramon. In Ramon, we have 7 people preparing for baptism in the month of September. I have loved the people with my whole heart. I have given everything I have to build God’s kingdom. President and Sister Cobing visited with us (Sister Regorosa and me) just before the transfer list came out. Sister Cobing told us that they “needed to spread our goodness” to other parts of the mission.

The night the transfer list came out, Sister Regorosa and I both cried. Then we started doing our last things together. We ran together for the last time. We got ice cream together for the last time. We visited all our people together for the last time. Saying goodbye was so hard. But amidst the hard, we had miracles.

One of our miracles was with our friend, Edith! She came to church for the first time last week. Then when we went and visited her, she said she loved it! We asked her if she wanted to be baptized and she said “yes”. On my last day in Ramon, I got to invite her to be baptized. It was a special experience, and I will never forget it.

Now, here I am in Roxas. It is exciting! It is a new start for me. It is also kind of fun because this was Sister Regorosa’s area before. I get reminded of her everywhere I go…

My new companion is Sister Liper! She is so kind and amazing. I know that we will do amazing things together! Plus, my first exchanges as an STL were with Sister Liper! Now it is like we are on exchanges every day!

And just like there were miracles in Ramon, I am looking forward to the miracles that will happen here in Roxas.

I can already see that we will see a lot of miracles. This area is a bit like Ramon was when we got there. I am excited to get to work, love the people, have fun, and live in the moment. This is the time to serve God, and I am excited to serve here in Roxas.

This week, I studied about remembering. Throughout the scriptures, God asks us to remember. He wants us to remember the miracles in our lives. The ways that He has helped us, the ways He has lifted us.

President Eyring said:

“My point is to urge you to find ways to recognize and remember God’s kindness. It will build our testimonies.”

When I remember the Lord, I feel more joy. I remember His kindness and the good He has done for me. I left Ramon, but I will never forget the things that the Lord did for me there. He showed me that when I rely on Him, He will make miracles happen. He showed me that He will create miracles from our small, imperfect efforts. I will always remember what the Lord did for me and Sister Regorosa in Ramon. God is so good.

If I am being a bit honest, I am sad, and a bit disappointed after transferring, but I know this new adventure is exactly what I need to grow. And I also know that God is everywhere. In Ramon, but also in Roxas.

I love you all and I hope you have a great week!

The Church is true, God loves you,
Be happy, Be brave, Be smart,
Love,
Sister Miller
